Color of the Year: Honeysuckle Pink

So yesterday's Color of the Day (a brilliant shade of blue) was totally upstaged by the announcement of Pantone's Color of the Year for 2011! It's official: 2011 is the year of Honeysuckle Pink:

As I've mentioned before, I'm typically not a pink gal. It's definitely not my go-to color, but every now and then I enjoy a bright infusion of a happy color, like, oh I don't know . . . honeysuckle pink.

In the spirit of open-mindedness, I've decided to embrace the honeysuckle pink trend in 2011. And so, beginning the first week of January, the color of the day for one day each week will be -- yes, honeysuckle pink. My objective? To learn just why honeysuckle pink earned this distinct honor. (Perhaps it's versatile? Or mood-boosting? Or maybe it's an unexpected neutral? Only time will tell!)

In other news, I'm headed to Florida this weekend to attend my brother's college graduation (congratulations, Tommy!) and hopefully soak up a little sun while enjoying some family time. In the meantime, I leave you with this image of (what else?) a honeysuckle pink-infused sitting room:

Happy Weekend!

Color of the Day: Blue

The design community is abuzz about Lonny Magazine & Traditional Home's announcement that Lonny co-founders Michelle Adams and Patrick Cline have been tapped to launch an online version of Traditional Home next year. Yay! Read more about the digital collaboration here.

In honor of this exciting news, today's Color of the Day image comes from Lonny Magazine:

I love the richness of the blue walls and the airiness of the window treatments. How perfect.

Color of the Day: Winter White (Act II)

Today's forecast promises more snow flurries for New York City! It seems fitting to celebrate winter white again:

Those bright white, tufted armchairs are absolutely stunning, particularly against that muted green wall.

Color of the Day: Winter White

It has officially turned cold in New York, which means winter is just around the corner. And winter means snow, which explains why I've had winter-white interiors on the brain:

I'm really digging the white mirror and the white pouf -- and the contrast between the beautiful hardwood floors and everything else.

Le Weekend

After a long week at work, I'm really, really looking forward to the weekend. My weekend plans (in no particular order):

1. Buy holiday cards.
2. Attend the Martha Stewart Holiday Craft Sale (!). For anyone in the NYC area, the sale is taking place on Saturday from 12 to 6 at 601 West 26th Street (the Starett-Lehigh Building).
3. Shop for beads the Garment District.
4. Watch college and professional football, Boardwalk Empire and The Real Housewives of Atlanta.

And that's it (for now)! I've also been doing a lot of blog and twitter housekeeping recently, so there's a good chance I'll be back on the blog before the weekend is over. Until then, happy weekend!

Color of the Day: Pink

Pink is not one of my go-to colors, but there is something perfectly feminine about this living room:

Exciting Blog News!

Here's a little confession: My blog persona has evolved a bit over the past several years:

Back in 2007 (when I was still in grad school), I began blogging under "The Fashion Obsessed Sports Fan." The name of that blog was pretty self-explanatory -- perhaps too self-explanatory.

In 2008, I decided to change the name of the blog to "Stilettos on the Gridiron" -- same concept, flashier title.

And finally, earlier this year, I decided to re-brand my blogging identity once again, this time to reflect the obsession intense appreciation I've developed for all things design.

Now for the exciting news: All of my pre-Ruby Perrin Design blog content is finally available here on the Ruby Perrin Design blog (including pictures that capture the extreme transformation my bachelorette pad has undergone over the past two years -- click on the "Apartment" link on the right to see what I'm talking about)!!!

I'm so happy that all of my blog content can now live together happily on the web. I would have done this so much sooner had I realized how easy it is to do on Blogger.

Enjoy!
